Wong Wai Leong

Wong Wai Leong was appointed to the position of Senior Vice President of Technical Services in July 2016, reporting to Technical Director Jimmy Ng. He is a specialist in networks and infrastructure, and leads a team responsible for developing support enterprise applications, managing enterprise data & data communications, and managing information security.
Prior to his appointment as SVP of Technical Operations, Wai Leong held the position of Vice President of Technical Services, a position held since November 2007 where he had played a series of leadership roles in implementing banking solutions for banks in Hong Kong and Africa, as well as healthcare solutions like EMR, HIS and LIS for hospitals throughout Malaysia.
In 2004, Wai Leong was involved in developing a financial application for the first self-service bulk cheque and scan deposit machine for HSBC Malaysia, which subsequently won the Best of Financial Application at the MSC-APICTA awards.
Wai Leong identifies that one of the most defining moments of his career was his involvement in a team that implemented and provided 24×7 support for a Laboratory Information System (LIS) at the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital that has 83 wards and 2300 beds. This system is still running live at the hospital till today.
Wai Leong joined HTC in 1993 as a Junior Programmer. In his early years, he was involved in a computerisation project for a Finnish-owned power plant in Malaysia and also played key roles in the MRP-II project implementations for HTC in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
Backed by 20 years of in-depth technical knowledge and global exposure, Wai Leong remains humble at heart and describes in his own words, “I would never call myself a senior, everyday I’m still learning something new. Every day is a day to look forward to in HTC.”
